EL CLASICO

WHO DO YOU THINK WILL WIN THE EL CLASICO  BETWEEN MADRID AND BARCELONA?

The five untouchables

The five untouchables

Roger Bogunyà

Only five members of the FC Barcelona team have appeared in all four of the last wins against Real Madrid. Valdés, Alves, Puyol, Xavi and Messi are veterans of the recent encounters.

Did you know Pedro has only ever played one clásico? And that Keita has only played the full 90 minutes once? Or that Iniesta only started in the last four? For one reason or another, there are only five players that appeared in the last four games with the old enemy, and all of those ended in FCB wins. They are the following:

Valdés: A Liga regular. Valdés has not missed one of the last 14 clásicos, in which he has only conceded 20 goals. In the last four, he has only conceded the two in the 6-2 win two seasons ago.

Alves: He has played all four Barça v Madrid games since joining the club, and last year he even played as right winger at the Bernabéu. It was his cross to Ibrahimovic that won that the last game at the Camp Nou (1-0).

3.jpgPuyol: Eleven years after experiencing the first game in the flesh, this will be his 22nd clásico. The last four have been especially glorious, and most of all the 6-2 win in Madrid, when he scored a cracking goal from a header.

Xavi: Xavi provided exquisite assists to Messi and Pedro in the last clásico at the Bernabéu. Of the five untouchables, he is the only one that has been substituted in one of these four matches. That was in injury time of the 2-0 win in 2008.

Messi: Nobody scores like Messi and against Madrid, the Argentinian has scored four goals in the last four matches. Last year’s 1-0 win was the only one he didn’t score in.

First session to focus on Monday

Marc Guillén / Aida Soriano

The squad had a gentle training session this evening after last night’s Champions League exertions. Only Valdes and Iniesta, who worked out in the gym, and the injured Milito were absent.

The rest of the players who figured last night were joined by the other squad members on Pitch Number One of the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper in the first session for Guardiola to begin preparations for Monday’s big game.

Adriano okay
2010-11-25_ENTRENO_02.JPGAdriano worked on his own with a coach after feeling a twinge in his left calf during the game last night and coming off after 76 minutes. The Brazilian was examined by club doctors who decided that he had not done any damage and should be okay.

Valdés and Iniesta in the gym
Víctor Valdés and Andrés Iniesta didn’t come out for the session, preferring to work out in the gym, whilst Gaby Milito was also absent as he continued his recovery programme.

Three Bs and a Youth team player
The three B team players Miño, Fontàs and Thiago who made the trip to Greece, completed the session, alongside Youth A team defender Ivan Balliu.

hy is Ludacris in this movie? Is he a cop now? We didn’t see Fast & Furious but we’re well aware that Kang was in the it as well as Tokyo Drift. Gibson was the second lead in 2 Fast 2 Furious, which Ludacris had a cameo in the last time we checked. Apparently, his street racing character has moved up since the last time we saw him. Either way it looks like the folks behind this film aren’t playing any games, the gang’s all here! These photos were taken off the Twitter feeds from Gibson and Ludacris and feature the cast mean-mugging for the camera with guns and all. At first, the idea of ANOTHER Furious film was daunting but dammit if they’re not trying to suck us back in with this cast!
